Here at Surf City, surf travel is something we are planning for all the time. I personally
travel 3-
If you are interested in a surf trip out of the country we may be able to help with your planning. A particular destination like Puerto Rico has its best times of the year for surf. Just because you have your vacation time in June doesn’t mean its time for a surf trip to PR. On the contrary the best window for surf in Puerto Rico is fall through the spring .You may get some surf in June but not as likely as a well planned trip in the fall or winter. Most of the Caribbean is like that.
Before you decide on whom to choose for an air carrier, check to see what their policy is for surfboards. With all the new travel restrictions and all the a la carte charges for bags and seat selections, make sure they take surfboards and how much they charge. A good friend of mine booked a Delta flight out of Myrtle Beach to Costa Rica and found out at the counter that they were unable to take his boards to Atlanta for the flight into Liberia.
He was shocked; very upset. Some air carriers that use small commuter planes in and out of small towns like Myrtle Beach and Wilmington and then fly to major hubs like Charlotte and Atlanta cannot handle a 9’0 double bag stuffed with gear. So when booking air fare, check the size of the airplane and ask if it’s possible to carry surfboards and the price. You may save yourself a major headache. READ MORE>>>>>
